Speaker: Fred Beck

Fred Beck has over a decade of hands-on experience in the Talent Management Arena. While at the US Army Armaments Research and Development Engineering Center (ARDEC), Fred was part of the team that won the Malcolm Baldridge Award for Quality in 2007. Fred also a key contributor to ARDECs first Talent Management and Acquisition Strategies, as well as their Workforce Planning efforts.


 

Fred joined SMDC/ARSTRAT in 2009, where has been the command talent management external point of contact to the Department of the Army (DA) Headquarters, other government agencies, and a number of academic institutions. He has also significantly contributed to various command civilian workforce development efforts to include command-wide mentoring events, leader and supervisor development and strategic communication initiatives, to name a few. Fred was also the lead for SMDCs human capital strategy, onboarding program and succession planning efforts. For talent management policy, he provided input to the revision of the AR 690-950 and OPMs Pathways Programs guidance, as well as others. He was the command coordinator for student and recent graduate programs. Additionally, Fred has represented SMDC as a member of the DA Metrics Working Group, and Department of Defense (DoD) Recruiting Metrics Working Group.


 

Fred has been active in the talent development field throughout his career as a DA Civilian. This has included instructing/facilitating: the Army LEAD Program, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Training, NSPS Transition Training, Succession Planning, and the Army Family Team Building Program.


 

Fred received his Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall University in 2010.
