Objectives of Presentation:

1.  Introspection of one’s value and visualizing a plan to convey that perceived value to employer or prospective employer.

2.  Creating the brand and envisioned plan.

3. Putting the plan into action. 

 

 

Herb is a member of a military family; his father, he and his son were career Army officers and his brother is a retired US Air Force officer.  As an Army brat and during his career, he traveled the world from Germany to Taiwan learning languages and cultures.  He flew combat missions in Vietnam as a spotter pilot; and later was a research and development analyst for several advanced aviation and missile weapons and training systems.

 

His experiences are broader than the military though.  He has owned a couple small businesses and been an active investor in real estate and the stock market.  He has been an adjunct professor for several universities teaching a range of topics including English, Management Information Systems, Basic Computer Programming, and Intro to Business.

 

He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State University and a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University.  He has attended several universities and colleges over the years, broadening his education with both undergraduate and graduate studies.  He has also attended numerous Government schools including the Defense Acquisition University, the Army Logistics Management College, the Air University, and Naval Post Graduate School.

 

He holds an FAA Commercial Fixed & Rotary Wing Instrument Pilot’s License; a State of Alabama Insurance Agent license; and is a Certified Cost Estimating Analyst.

Most recently he has been employed as an Operations Research Analyst/Program Analyst for the Army PATRIOT missile system.  He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps certified  Level 3 in two categories as a Business – Financial Management;  and Program Management; and certified Level 1 in three additional categories: Information Technology; Facilities Engineering; and Life-Cycle Logistics.

 

His volunteer work includes giving talks at local Job Fairs, Job Clubs, the library and civic organizations.  His primary interest has been in helping folks attain their career and financial goals.  He has been volunteer member of the IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Group (TAP) taking comments from the public and presenting them to IRS counterparts for improving IRS interface with the public.  He does some financial counseling and gives talks on budgeting, investing, preparing for eventual retirement and other similar topics.
