How important is Organizational Development to your company? Is it really important to establish OD principles in your organization? OD affects not only the people of an organization but also the finances, strategic plans and even the facilities of an organization.

 

Mr. Johnny Giles, Chief of Staff for Huntsville City schools will discuss how Organizational Development principles were and are key in the success of Huntsville City Schools. He will discuss the successes the school system has had  and how it could possibly benefit other organizations.  

 

Johnny Giles is the Chief of Staff for Huntsville City Schools.  He grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from W. Berry High School.  Johnny obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  Before Johnny entered active duty as a Personnel Officer in the United States Air Force he was employed by Stephen R. Covey.

 

He served for 20 years in the Air Force, including two tours back home in Alabama at Maxwell Air Force Base where he obtained Master Degrees from both Troy State University in Montgomery and Air University at Maxwell.  In addition to his Alabama assignments, Johnny has served all over the world, including assignments to Anderson AFB, Guam; Scott AFB, Illinois; a command assignment at Altus AFB, Oklahoma; two Pentagon tours; and a deployment to Iraq.

 

In August 2012, Johnny retired from the Air Force and came to Huntsville City Schools in September of 2012.  As Chief of Staff, his areas of responsibility are Human Resources, Compliance, Community Engagement, Educational Television (ETV), Safety, Athletics and Extracurricular Activities.  His wife Kara also works for Huntsville City Schools tutoring ESL students. His son Reid is currently attending Brigham Young University
